It is the most important type of antibacterial agent for fighting bacterial infections. Aims: The study aimed to identify the degree of awareness about the dangers of misuse of antibiotics, and to find out the differences about the degree of their knowledge of the dangers of using antibiotics according to the variables (Gender – age – level of education – place of residence). Materials and Methods: This study was conducted through a questionnaire prepared by the researcher consisting of (13) items in addition to some personal information (gender – age – educational level – place of residence), and the informed consent was taken from all (166) study participants. Results: There are no differences in the degree of knowledge of the risks of using antibiotics due to the sex variable, and there are differences between the estimates of the study sample in the degree of knowledge of the risks of using antibiotics. The category (25–39) was the most knowledgeable, and there were differences between the estimates of the study sample members due to the variable of place of residence due to the remote areas. Conclusion: The degree of knowledge of the risks of using antibiotics was low, as the majority of individuals (57%) had followed the advice of someone other than a doctor or used an old prescription before taking an antibiotic. These results clearly indicate the extent to which laws controlling the sale of antibiotics in pharmacies in the Syrian Arab Republic.
Muaaz Alajlani Copyright (c) 2024 B R Nahata Smriti Sansthan International Journal of Phramaceutical Sciences & Clinical Research https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0 https://www.ijpscr.info/index.php/ijpscr/article/view/172 Fri, 15 Sep 2023 00:00:00 +0000 Molecular Structural Elucidation of Coloumn Secondary Fraction in Malvaviscus penduliflorus (Malvaceae) https://www.ijpscr.info/index.php/ijpscr/article/view/170
Malvaviscus penduliflorus (Malvaceae) is a popular erect under shrubs. It is garden ornamental widely grown across tropical and subtropical regions. The plant widely grown as both garden ornamentals and medicinal plants with varied ethnomedical uses, mostly for wounds, fever, hypertension, sore throat, bronchitis, gastritis, and liver and gall bladder problems. The pharmacognostic studies such as moisture content, ash values, extractive values, histology, and powder analysis were carried out. Successive solvent extraction and phytochemical screening were carried out. The extracts showed the presence of alkaloids, glycosides, phenols, steroids, terpenoids, carbohydrates, and saponins. The fraction was extracted from leaves and purified by column chromatography. The phytochemical studies gave conformation of the above said results. Stroke is one of the diseases which until now has become a health problem globally and nationally because of its increasing prevalence rate. The purpose of this study was to determine the study of drug use and the appropriate use of ischemic stroke medication based on the right patient indicators, the right indication, the right drug, and the right dose in stroke patients at Anutapura General Hospital in Palu in 2021. The subjects of this study were inpatient ischemic stroke patients who met the inclusion criteria. The object of this study was inpatient medical record data diagnosed with ischemic stroke for the January–December 2021 period. The type of research conducted was descriptive research, the results of 30 medical record data showed characteristics of ischemic stroke sufferers, based on gender characteristics showed the highest number with male sex of 17 people (56.67%), characteristics based on age 56–65 years a number of 26 people (86.67%), characteristics of comorbidities a number of 21 people (70.00%). Overall, the most widely used drug class is the nootropic, neurotonic, and cerebral activator, namely, citicoline, followed by the neurotropic and antiplatelet groups. The use of supporting drugs with the highest use of therapy is amlodipine. From this study, it can be concluded that the treatment of ischemic stroke based on the parameters of the right indication, the right drug, the right patient, and the right dose is 100% right.
Viani Anggi Copyright (c) 2024 B R Nahata Smriti Sansthan International Journal of Phramaceutical Sciences & Clinical Research https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0 https://www.ijpscr.info/index.php/ijpscr/article/view/171 Fri, 15 Sep 2023 00:00:00 +0000 Advances in the Management of Cancer by Natural Products: An Overview https://www.ijpscr.info/index.php/ijpscr/article/view/169
Drugs derived from natural origin are often derived from medicinal plants. The extract thus obtained may be from a single plant or polyherbal, that is, a combination of botanical extracts that are assumed to have additive or synergistic effects, although some antagonistic action has also been reported. It is documented that the majority of terrestrial and marine plants have still not been fully explored regarding their prophylactic or therapeutic properties. As per the guidelines of the Committee for the Purpose of Control and Supervision of Experiments on Animals and Institutional Animal Ethics Committee, in the absence of preliminary toxicity or activity data, the direct use of experimental animals in sacrificial/painful models is also not fully justified. A cell line is defined as a permanently established cell culture that will proliferate indefinitely when given an appropriate fresh medium and space. Cell lines consist of cells with a uniform genetic makeup because they developed from a single cell and their subsequent growth occurs in a favorable artificial media or environment. Cell lines differ from cell strains in that they become immortalized. According to the World Health Organization, developing countries like India need to fully explore the potential of their traditional drugs in the management of various diseases, either in prophylaxis or therapeutics, to become economically self-reliant. Cancer is reported as the second primary cause of death globally; nearly one in six deaths is caused by cancer disease. Applying cancer models on experimental animals leads to a painful death. It was, therefore, thought worthwhile to compile and critically analyze the major published studies, where an herbal extract or drug of natural origin has been tried on cell lines, particularly on cancer cells, as an alternative to experimental animals.
Rajiv Gupta Copyright (c) 2024 B R Nahata Smriti Sansthan International Journal of Phramaceutical Sciences & Clinical Research https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0 https://www.ijpscr.info/index.php/ijpscr/article/view/169 Fri, 15 Sep 2023 00:00:00 +0000 Cerebral Air Embolism – A Rare Complication of Computed Tomography Guided Lung Biopsy https://www.ijpscr.info/index.php/ijpscr/article/view/173
Thoracic lesions constitute a major chunk of the conditions presenting to a pulmonologist. They comprise a panorama of assorted etiologies ranging from benign lung lesions to aggressive malignancies. A tissue biopsy and its histopathological analysis is the gold standard for diagnosis. Computed tomography (CT)-guided lung biopsy is a safe and imminent tool for obtaining a tissue biopsy of underlying thoracic pathology. However, it has its own gamut of complications. The most common complications encountered include pneumothorax, hemorrhage, hemoptysis, iatrogenic infections, and sporadically air embolism. Cerebral air embolism is a fatal complication of CT-guided lung biopsy seen in a miniscule subset of patients. It requires urgent diagnosis and prompt therapy initiation. High-flow oxygen and hyperbaric oxygen therapy are usually helpful. Due to heterogeneous presentation, it usually remains undiagnosed. A high index of suspicion and early initiation of appropriate therapy can save precious lives. We hereby report a unique case of this rarefied complication.
Unnati Desai Copyright (c) 2024 B R Nahata Smriti Sansthan International Journal of Phramaceutical Sciences & Clinical Research https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0 https://www.ijpscr.info/index.php/ijpscr/article/view/173 Fri, 15 Sep 2023 00:00:00 +0000
